A successful first annual Megève CSI*** (Concours de Saut International) Show Jumping Competition - Edmond de Rothschild Group, held from 27 to 31 July 2011. The event, under the patronage of Olympic medal winner Pierre Durand (Seoul 1988), boasted both a large crowd in attendance and a top-flight competition.
The Megève–Edmond de Rothschild Group Grand Prix, the main competition among the twenty-two that comprise the larger CSI*** show jumping event, closed the competition on Sunday afternoon with a win by American rider Ricky Neal (19 years old). This was a particularly poignant moment for Neal, who paid homage to his mount, a 16-year-old horse competing for the last time.
Winners of the Megève–Edmond de Rothschild Group Grand Prix, Sunday 31 July 2011:
- Ricky Neal (US) + Transmission
- Frederik Cattebeke (BE) + Queros de Bioagrico

Another highlight of this event was Saturday afternoon’s six-bar competition. For this stage, the horse and rider must pass six obstacles that are positioned in a line, with each obstacle having a progressively high bar. It must have taken some courage for the sixteen participants to face this perilous test of skill. In the end, and with an enthusiastic crowd cheering them on, Jessy Puttalaz (CH) and Maggie Mac Alary (US) finished in a tie, having both successfully jumped 195cm.
Delphine Abergel, an employee of Edmond de Rothschild Group, won the Special Prize for Elegance, which recognises distinction in the aesthetic aspects of her performance. Congratulations Delphine!
