The Nice Grand Prix, an event synonymous with light airs, rounded off this evening with victory going to the crew of Edmond de Rothschild Group. Pierre Pennec and his three crew controlled the seventh act of the Extreme Sailing Series 2011 to perfection.

Regained confidence aboard Edmond de Rothschild Group: the Trapani Grand Prix (Italy) drew to a close this Sunday after five days of competition which enjoyed a degree of intensity never before seen in the Extreme Sailing Series. Right up till the final race, four crews were still in contention for outright victory.

After setting off from Cowes at noon on Sunday, Gitana 11 crossed the Rolex Fastnet Race finish line in Plymouth Sound, on Monday 15 August at 21h44’36’’, less than an hour after the brand new event record holder and around twenty minutes prior to the two competing MOD 70s. The maxi-trimaran fitted out by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild covered the 608 theoretical miles of the course in 33 hours 44 minutes and 36 seconds. Thanks to this efficiently conducted sprint, Sébastien Josse and his six crew take second place in the 2011 edition, which comes as great satisfaction for the Gitana Team. As far as the corrected standing is concerned, taking into account the ‘handicap*’ imposed by the race organisers, we’ll have to wait until the whole multihull fleet have crossed the finish for that particular verdict.

A successful first annual Megève CSI*** (Concours de Saut International) Show Jumping Competition - Edmond de Rothschild Group, held from 27 to 31 July 2011. The event, under the patronage of Olympic medal winner Pierre Durand (Seoul 1988), boasted both a large crowd in attendance and a top-flight competition.
